Date of incident: October 12, 2023

Client: Transport Operator

Situation: On the 12th of October 2023, Freight Risk management, received an urgent call from a Transport Operator whose truck had been involved in an accident just a few kilometers outside Prins Albert on the N1 highway. The accident occurred in a remote area where visible law enforcement was scarce, leaving the truck and driver vulnerable to potential security threats. The client requested our immediate assistance to safeguard the truck and driver until it could be reloaded by another truck.

Response: Recognizing the urgency of the situation, our team at Freight Risk Management. sprang into action. We dispatched a tactical unit promptly to the accident scene, ensuring a swift response to the client’s distress call. The tactical team, comprising highly trained security personnel, arrived within minutes at the accident site.

Challenges: Upon arrival, our team faced a challenging situation. A crowd of opportunistic thieves had gathered, attempting to exploit the vulnerability of the stranded truck and its cargo. The remote location, far from law enforcement support, exacerbated the risk of looting.

Resolution: Our tactical unit wasted no time and immediately took control of the situation. Through effective crowd control and strategic positioning, they successfully deterred the would-be looters and ensured the safety of both the truck and the driver. They maintained a vigilant watch over the scene until the arrival of the breakdown services.

Outcome: With the breakdown services on-site, our team facilitated the safe and secure recovery of the damaged truck and cargo. The convoy was subsequently escorted to a safer area to mitigate further risks. Our security personnel remained with the convoy throughout the journey, ensuring the cargo reached its destination without any additional incidents. Once the convoy reached a safe area, our team proceeded back to our hub station.

This case study underscores the value of having a dedicated and reliable security partner, especially in remote and high-risk areas, where a prompt and effective response can make all the difference in protecting cargo and assets.
